"I don’t believe in narrowing myself to a single niche. As did the renaissance masters.
My work stretches from minimalist compositions to intricate, layered contemporary abstractions."
Multidisciplinary Artist – Rob McCowan
I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember—ever since I was a child, sitting beside my talented sketch artist mother, playing and working in my grandmothers juke joint cafe. Watching mom's hands bring life to the page sparked something in me that never went away. Watching my Grandma regulate patrons, rebellious children, thieves and assholes in the hood. Over the years, my curiosity pushed me to explore every medium I could get my hands on: drawing, painting, photography, digital art, graphic design and now AI art. Sometimes I keep them separate, sometimes I blend them together, but every piece is part of my ongoing study of the world around me. People watch me, opinions on what I should, could, do.
Bless their hearts....
My work stretches from minimalist compositions to intricate, layered abstractions. I might create something intimate and small one day, then take on a mural that covers an entire wall the next. For me, art is about adaptability—it’s about listening to the environment I’m in, studying shapes, shadows, textures, and emotions, then translating them into something visual. That mindset has carried me through every chapter of my career.
My influences run deep, from the surreal genius of Salvador Dalí to the geometric brilliance of M.C. Escher, but much of my inspiration comes from everyday life: the symmetry of architecture, the flow of nature, he bright light of the city, the humanity of faces, bodies and gestures. I see beauty and truth in both the simple and the complicated.
